Honeywll GXE Limit Switches
The GXE series from Honeywell forms part of the wider GXS range of flame proof limit switches. They are compact with a very small footprint, making them ideal for use in applications where space is at a premium. They can be used in potentially explosive atmospheres, meeting 94/9/EC, commonly referred to as the ATEX Directive.
Features:
A range of actuators, levers and heads are available for this series. Youll be able to choose a switch that perfectly fits your application. They have a standard European mounting size of 20 x 22 mm.
This series is fitted with silver contacts as standard.
GXE limit switches have a wide operating temperature range of -20°C to +75°C.
No grounding screw is required due to the use of double insulated technology. There is no internal or external earth connection.
The switching contacts have a positive break.
GXE limit switches have a SIL 3 rating and are explosion proof.
This series is fitted with silver contacts as standard.
Mechanical life up to 2 million operations.
GXE limit switches feature two flame paths. One is located between the head and switch cavity while the other is in the cover housing threads.
Benefits:
These limit switches offer two layers of electrical circuit protection with an integrated double insulated switch cavity.
All of the models are supplied pre-wired with a 5 metre harmonised Cenelec cable. This allows for quick and easy installation into your application and allows for easy maintenance.
The operating head is incredibly easy to adjust in the field, so you can easily find and adapt a switch to match your application. GXE limit switches have a boss and socket head design which helps the switches to withstand the toughest applications. This design ensures a greater head to body retention.
These limit switches feature bronze sintered dual bearings. The integration of dual bearings enhances the mechanical life of GXE limit switches. Mechanical and operating life is prolonged by the bronze bearings which increase the resistance to damage in corrosive environments.
Robust sealing enables GXE limit switches to be used for the toughest applications. They are constructed from a hardwearing, rugged zinc head and an aluminium body. Both materials are epoxy coated and have been treated with phosphate. They feature diaphragm seals that protect the integrity of the seal between the head and body. A cover O-ring seal maintains NEMA and IP environmental sealing for the switch cavity while twin shaft seals enhance environmental protection.
Product Applications:
GXE limit switches are suitable for use in hazardous environments. They can be used on cages, panel, gates or any equipment that requires a machine to stop. Example applications:
Hazardous area Category 2 (Zones 1 and 21) or Category 3 (Zones 2 and 22)
Actuators
Control valves and valve position monitoring
Grain handling equipment
Mining conveyors
Gas and oil drilling rigs
Offshore drilling rigs
Mud pumps
Pulp and paper coating
Waste treatment
Material handling
Petrochemical
What is the difference between GXA limit switches and GXE limit switches?
GXA limit switches are EN 50041 mounting compatible while GXE limit switches are EN 50047 mounting compatible.
Warning
GXE limit switches are not safety devices. They should be not used as emergency stop or safety devices. They must not be used in applications where personal injury could occur as a result of product failure.
