Discovery Kit for STM8A Automotive Microcontrollers
The STM8A-DISCOVERY kit contains two boards: one for the STM8AF device family and the other for STM8AL devices. All devices within these families (STM8Ax) are stress-tested and AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications.
STM8AF/STM8AL Board Common Features
• On-board ST-LINK/V2 for programming and debugging
• On-board ST662A +12V boost converter when board powered from VUSB
• On-board L99PM62GXP PMIC with LIN and CAN bus controllers
• Power and USB LEDs
• 2 x User pushbuttons
• USB mini-B socket for host PC connection
• Extension header for other L99PM62GXP features
• Extension headers for MCU connectivity
• Boards powered via USB connection or external +12Vdc VBAT
STM8AF Board Features
• 24MHz STM8AF5288T 8-bit MCU with 64KB Flash memory, 6KB RAM, 2KB data EEPROM
• CAN and LIN communication available
• 5 x User LEDs
• User potentiometer connected to MCU ADC
• Dimensions: 110.2 x 45.7mm
STM8AL Board Features
• 16MHz STM8AL3L68T 8-bit MCU with 32KB Flash memory, 4KB RAM, 1KB data EEPROM
• LIN communication available

• 4-digit 14-segment + 4-bar LCD display
• IDD current measurement circuit
• Dimensions: 122.8 x 45.7mm

The STM8 platform is implemented around a high-performance 8-bit core and a state-of-the-art set of peripherals. The 8-bit microcontroller operates at 16/24MHz, featuring flash memory up to 128kB, internal RAM and EEPROM, 8/16-bit timers, A/D Converters, D/A Converters, Comparators, Serial Interfaces and an optional Display controller.
