LinkSwitch-CV series Offline AC-DC Converters
Power Integrations LinkSwitch-CV family of energy-efficient, off-line switching AC-DC converters with accurate primary-side constant-voltage (CV) control. The LinkSwitch-CV series can significantly simplify the design of low power CV converters and eliminate the need for both an opto-coupler and secondary CV control circuitry while still providing excellent output voltage regulation. These highly integrated devices incorporate a 725V power MOSFET with on/off control state machine, self-biasing, frequency jittering, cycle-by-cycle current limit, and hysteretic thermal shutdown circuitry.
Elimination of opto-coupler and all secondary CV control circuitry
IC is self-biasing – no bias winding supply required
Compensation for external component temperature variations
Continuous and/or discontinuous mode operation for design flexibility
Frequency jittering greatly reduces EMI filter cost
Auto-restart protection reduces delivered power by >95% for output short-circuit and all control loop faults (open and shorted components)
Hysteretic thermal shutdown with automatic recovery
Meets HV creepage requirements between Drain and all other pins
No primary or secondary current sense resistors
No-load consumption <200 mW at 230 VAC and <70 mW with optional external bias
Easily meets all global energy efficiency regulations with no added components
ON/OFF control provides constant efficiency down to very light loads – ideal for mandatory EISA and ENERGY STAR 2.0 regulations
