RS Pro Plug-in AC-DC adapter with Europlug and micro USB Connector Output
From RS Pro a high quality and highly reliable plug-in AC-DC adapter for converting AC mains current into a 5 V dc voltage using a USB connector. This AC DC adapter features a 2-pin Europlug and a 1.5 m lead terminated with a micro USB connector. Besides being used for serial digital data exchange the USB connector has now become a standard low power AC adapter for many portable devices. This adapter is perfect for use with the Raspberry Pi 2
What is a Plug-in AC-DC Adapter?
Plug in AC-DC adapters are also known as AC Adaptors or AC-DC converters and are a type of external power supply. Some electrical appliances require power but lack the internal components to derive the required voltage and power from AC mains power. This is where an AC adapter is used to convert the AC (alternating current) into useable DC voltage
How Does an AC-DC Adapter Work?
The adapter consists of a power supply which is enclosed in a case similar to an AC plug, hence the term plug type, plug-in or plugtop power adapter. One end of the power supply is terminated with a 1.5 m USB cable with a micro USB connector on the end. The USB connector plugs directly into the USB port on your device. The power supply is plugged into the mains socket and the AC current is then converted by the adapter into a DC voltage that is fed into the appliance via the cable connection
EnergyStar Level V / ErP Step 2
This AC DC adapter has an EnergyStar Level V / ErP (Energy related Products) Step 2 rating. The Energy-related Product Directive 2009/125/EC was set up to establish a framework under which manufacturers of energy related products are obliged, at the design stage, to increase energy efficiency and reduce the products negative environmental impacts that occur during the product's lifecycle. The numerals I to VI are an International Efficiency Marking Protocol which allows manufacturers to designate the efficiency performance of a product. This performance is based on the measurement of the operating energy efficiency and no-load power consumption of power supplies tested at different load levels. The no-load power consumption refers to the amount of power that an external power supply draws even when the application is turned off or disconnected this is also called the StandBy consumption
Features and Benefits
90 to 264 Vac universal voltage input
